Monsoon Palace on a hilltop, overlooking Udaipur with green scenic landscape views, is 12 km from the museum. It was constructed in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh as an astronomical centre and as a summer house for the Mewar Royalty. The palace provides magnificent sunset views, as it is located at the top of a hill and overlooks Udaipur’s lakes and the countryside. Maharana Sajjan Singh had planned it to be a five-storey astronomical centre. The plan was cancelled due to his premature death. It was later converted into a Monsoon palace and hunting lodge.
