The temple is situated near Banganga Tank, which adds to its historical and spiritual importance. The Ambreshwar Temple, located in Ambernath, is one of the most ancient and architecturally stunning Shiva temples in the Mumbai region. The temple’s origin dates back to the 11th century, which is apparently when the area was under the reign of the Shilahara dynasty. The temple is carved out of stone and features intricate carvings that depict various deities and mythological scenes from Hindu scriptures. The central deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the form of a Shiva Lingam, which is revered by thousands of devotees.

Located a short drive from the main city of Mumbai, Tungareshwar Shiva Temple in Vasai is one of the popular Shiv temples.. The temple is located 3-4 km from the Tungareshwar Entrance Gate. The temple can be reached via a scenic trek through the dense forest, offering breathtaking views of nature. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in his serene form, and the temple is especially busy during the monsoon season when pilgrims trek through the rain to offer prayers. Many people who have visited the temple believe that it has the power to rejuvenate one’s mind and life too.

5. Kopineshwar Mandir

Another one of the Mumbai Shiva temples, Kopineshwar Mandir, Thane is a nearby destination that you can’t swap for another. The temple dates back to the 12th century and is believed to have been built by the Silhara dynasty. The temple houses a massive Shiva Lingam, one of the largest in Maharashtra, measuring approximately 5 feet tall and 4 feet in diameter. Some of the times of the year when the temple is overcrowded are during Shivaratri, Shravan Mondays, and other significant Shiva-related festivals, so you’d have to plan accordingly.
