It is believed that Lord Hanuman assumed this form to rescue Laxamana and Rama when they were taken away by Ahiravana. According to locals, the temple is almost 300 years old and the city consists of only seven islands. However, not much is known about the temple’s history except that the Hanuman idol was found by local fishermen.
