1. Kankaria Lake

This 500-year-old manmade lake is now a major recreational hub and an important lake in Ahmedabad with a zoo and amusement park, boat rides, etc. Its landscaped promenade provides for a pleasant visit for the visitors along with the opportunity for street food from several stalls and also in December, Kankaria Carnival, to enjoy the festive atmosphere. Known to be one of the most famous lakes in Ahmedabad, Kankaria Lake is a tribute to Ahmedabad’s legacy.

2. Vastrapur Lake

Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Mehta Sarovar or Vastrapur Lake as it is popularly known, is an urban retreat for the citizens in western Ahmedabad. This lake is surrounded by lush gardens, and paved walkways perfect for morning jogs, evening walks, or family picnics. Vastrapur Lake in Gujarat is an open-air theatre as well as filled with fitness zones that provide both leisure and facility.

3. Chandola Lake

Chandola Lake is an important water body that has charming Ahmedabad in it and is situated near Dani Limda Road. Dating to several centuries when the reservoir first formed (and before these natural springs ever ran dry), this circular reservoir is beloved for its beautiful vistas and its sentimentality of being visited by migratory birds. In the evenings, Chandola Lake attracts locals and tourists from all over alike to come for quiet strolls and moments of reflection. Irrigation and local water supply also play a vital role.

4. Thol Lake & Sanctuary

Thol Lake is just one of the bird sanctuaries near Ahmedabad, though located on the outskirts of the Mehsana district. This is a manmade freshwater lake, surrounded by marshlands, and is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers as more than 150 different species of birds live here. Thol Lake is a well-preserved ecosystem with a lovely ambience, which provides the right eco-tourist experience not in the thick of urbanite hustle.

5. Nal Sarovar Lake & Sanctuary

One of the most popular lakes of the region is the Nal Sarovar Lake which is located near Sanand, about 64 kilometers from Ahmedabad. It is a huge water body and its nearby bird sanctuary allows for over 210 migratory bird species to flock there during winter, flamingos, pelicans, and storks, among others. Nal Sarovar is also a must-visit destination for nature photographers, as the region is rich in biodiversity

6. Munsar Lake

Munsar Lake, situated in the Viramgam area of Ahmedabad district, is an ancient water body with historical significance.This lake holds both archaeological and historical significance, having been built by the Chalukya dynasty. Its cultural aura series is an endowed site being fitted in the surrounding temples and shrines.
