The Kongsberg Silver Mines were established in 1623 and remained operational until 1958. At one time, they were among the largest productive silver mines in Europe. 2. Discover The Norwegian Mining Museum

The Norwegian Mining Museum, or Norsk Bergverksmuseum (Norsk Bergverksmuseum), is housed in the old smelting house located right next to Kongsberg’s town centre and provides lots of information about Norway’s mining history.
