The name Kanatal is a combination of two words: ‘Kana’, which in translation means one-eyed and the second part ‘Tal’, which means lake as the name is derived from a dried-up lake of the same name. Located at an altitude of 2600 meters, Kanatal looks green with much beauty making it a favourite destination for those who love nature. Despite its stunning views of nature, Kanatal has a lot more to it in terms of adventurous activities which make the moments worthwhile.

2. Fagu

Fagu is a beautiful snow-topped village located at a higher altitude of 2500 meters. This place is famous for apple tree plantations, sowing fields and a beautiful snow-capped Himalayan mountain in the background. It is also popular amongst trekkers and naturalists. It remains covered in fog almost every year for nearly nine months. The whole place is densely wooded with young pine and cedar trees and has a fairytale-like look. Potato fields are also easily visible. You can also get to see animals like the Snow Leopard, Yaks and Ponies as they are some of the inhabitants of Fagu.

According to tradition, if a person looks into the nine Corners of the lake with both feet on the ground you disappears in smoke and attains Nirvana. The name of the town has been derived from the word ‘Nahar’ as the King who attempted to kill a lion was restrained by Saint Baba Banwari Das. Kausani is one of the prime hill stations which is situated in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. The Kausani has a snow-clad Himalayan view comprising Trisul, Nanda Devi, and Panchuli. Located at an altitude of 1890m with Pine tree forests, and a meandering creek, Kausani can be termed as a paradise for honeymooners and nature as well as travellers. A very interesting fact I was amazed to discover was that Dausa is truly surrounded by Mahadev from all the five sides namely Nilkanth, Sahajnath, Somnath, Baijnath and Gupteshwar. It consists of two parts; ‘Dhau and Sa’ translates to Swarg meaning heaven and Sa meaning Sundar. The culture is associated with Rajasthan and one will have the opportunity to live in a traditional rural village as well. When it comes to convenience, it has been taken care of since the city is well-fledged with lots of local transport.

11. Kangra

Jwala Devi temple, out of them all, is famous as the flame temple, which has an ever-burning flame that has never gone out and no one knows how it is sustained. Masroor cut rock temple is another site, which is a rock temple from the monolithic age according to the researchers which has been described in the holy book Mahabharat as well.
