Thommankuthu Waterfalls, a popular seven-step waterfall of Kerala, nestled deep into the dense Idukki district forests. Gushing over a distance of 12 km as River Kannadiyaar, this waterfall brings with it several smaller tumbling and gushing waterfalls. Every smaller fall has a pool where one can swim. Located inside the Kaliyar Forest, this fall is also known as Thodupuzha Waterfalls. Considered to be one of the best waterfalls in Kerala, it derives its name from a local legend that recounts the drowning of a tribal leader named Thomman. Later the place became famous as Thommankuthu. Maintained by the Kerala Forest Department, the Thommankuthu Waterfalls location has all the basic facilities. Additionally, there is an interpretation centre that gives all the information regarding the forest.
