One of Mizoram’s protected wildlife sanctuaries is Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary. The second-highest peak in Mizoram is here, and alpine woods encircle the entire region. Since the area was created in 1999 for the protection and conservation of birds, uncommon species of birds can be seen here. Some recognised birds live in the wildlife reserve, such as the grey-rumped swift, white-naped yuhina, grey sibia, and grey peacock. The preservation of this wildlife sanctuary is a top priority for the Indian government. This is an excellent place to observe various birds and their habitat.

It lies in the Indian state of Mizoram, India. Being a part of the Champhai District, Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary is near the town of Champhai, about 250 kilometres east of the state capital, Aizawl. This sanctuary is embedded within the heart of Mizoram Hills, strewn with scenic landscapes, and forms an integral part of the Indo-Myanmar biodiversity hotspot.

By Air: Lengpui Airport is the closest airport, roughly 90 kilometres away. Major Indian cities like Kolkata and Guwahati offer flights to that location. Take a cab or private vehicle from the airport for three to four hours to the refuge.
By Train: The closest major train station is in Silchar, Assam, about 140 kilometres away. From Silchar, take a bus or taxi; the trip will take five to six hours.
By Road: The distance from Aizawl to Mizoram’s capital city is roughly 120 kilometres. A cab or private vehicle is the best option for a four—to five-hour drive.
Bus: A small bus service runs between Aizawl and the surrounding areas. Verify timetables before departure.

You can visit the Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary to see rare animals such as the Hoolock gibbon and the Green Pit Vipers. Thasiama Seno Neihna is a mythological place about 25 kilometers from Champhai. It is known for its beautiful landscapes and folklore. According to local mythology, Thasiama, a Mizo warrior, was granted a magic Mithun, a cattle by gods that could graze at this place. It is a place that offers an outstanding view of the surrounding hills and valleys, making it just right for both the history enthusiasts and the nature lovers. The serenity of the environment, coupled with mystic stories associated with the place, adds much to its charm.

For a place that feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, the Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary offers quite a set of dining experiences. Lengteng Forest Rest House Canteen, right within the premises, serves some simple local fare on its menu. Outside the sanctuary, the Tourist Lodge has a larger menu, with continental dishes such as fresh fish curries or chicken stews. Average Cost Of Trip
The entry fees for a visit to the Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary are ₹20 for Indian Nationals and ₹50 for foreign nationals. A still camera is charged at the rate of ₹100, and a video camera is charged at the rate of ₹ 200. All of the above fees go, in part, toward the maintenance and conservation of the sanctuary.
