The reservoir is a 3 sq. km rainfed lake, which was created back in 1958 after damming the Sukhna Choe. The Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, also known as the Chandigarh Rose Garden, is the largest rose garden in Asia. The rose garden is spread across an area of 30 acres and is home to a variety of species of roses. There are around 1600 species of roses in the garden alongside a variety of other plants. The beauty of the garden is usually at its prime during the annual Rose Festival held in February.
