In 1799, Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh constructed this five-story building to allow the royal women to watch the street festivals without being noticed. The palace has 953 beautifully latticed windows called jharokhas, which admit a cooling breeze and are so cleverly designed that the air within keeps cool even during the most heated summer months.
