1. Chhachhrauli Fort

Chhachhrauli Fort, a major among Haryana forts, is located in Chhachhrauli in the Yamuna Nagar district. The fort was built by the King of the Kalsia State, Raja Ranjit Singh. Built in the 18th Century, this fort takes you back to the beautiful era of the Sandhu Jat Dynasty. This fort has a Rajput-style architecture which is embraced and admired by all visitors. The fort has multiple visiting spots on its premises such as Tosh-i-Khana, the state treasury, a Dewan-Khana for all the official meetings, darbars and a clock tower which still occupies a prominent place in the fort.

2. Firoz Shah Palace Complex

Firoz Shah Palace Complex is an archaeological site in Hisar, Haryana. This fort was built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq of the Delhi Sultanate in 1354 AD. Today, it is maintained by the Archaeological Survey Of India (ASI). This palace complex is a part of the walled settlement inside of the fort. The palace complex witnesses Islamic architectural style. This palace complex has one royal for entry and four other gates to get in. Shahi Darwaza or the Royal Gate is a single-storey arched gateway. Lat ki Masjid is further divided into three parts. To the south of the dome lies a masonry pond.

3. Asigarh Fort

Asigarh Fort is also known as Hansi Fort which is located in Hansi, Haryana. This fort is located on the eastern bank of Amti Lake in Hansi City. The fort is spread over an area of 30 acres and once was in the control of the 80 forts around it. The fort is under the protection of ASI currently. The fort has derived its name from Asi which means the sword. This place was the centre of sword-making from the ancient era. This among the famous forts in Haryana is believed to be built by the rulers of the Tomar Dynasty.

4. Badshahpur Fort

This historical fort in Haryana was the palace where one of the wives of the Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar used to live. Today, this fort is completely in ruins and needs restoration. Badshahpur Fort is one of the lesser-known places in Haryana but has immense historical significance. The fort seems to be built during the mediaeval period, particularly in the year 1216 AD. Very close to the fort lies Baoli which used to function as a water storage. Prominently, this palace served as a strategic military outpost to protect the region and its surroundings.

5. Madhogarh Fort

Madhogarh Fort is a beautiful fort perched on the top of Madhogarh Hill in Haryana. This hill lies in the Aravalli Mountain Range near Madhogarh Village. The fort has a garrison, a stepwell and a palace on its premises. There is a planned ropeway and glass-bridge skywalk in Madhogarh. The architecture of Madhogarh Fort is of the Hindu-Rajput origin. There are several huge bastions around the fort. It is believed that there are many havelis built below the hill. The fort has been a part of many films and shootings, making it one of the top forts in Haryana.

6. Loharu Fort

Loharu Fort was built in the 16th Century, one of the oldest forts in Haryana and is currently an archaeological protected site in Loharu. The fort witnesses Rajput, Mughal and British architectural style and exquisite carvings. The control of the fort was passed to the rulers of multiple states including Alwars, Nawabs and Shekhwatis. The fort is built over an area of eight acres. The present fort was built by Nawab Ahmed Shah Baksh Khan in order to replace the previous one which was a mud fort built by Shekhawati state.

7. Morni Fort

Morni Fort has been converted into a nature museum and learning centre in Morni. This fort is 200 years old and was transformed into a museum at the cost of ₹1 crore. Morni Fort has four towers. Its past talks about how the king of Sirmur came to hide in the premises of the fort after he was overthrown from Nahan by Gurkhas. This fort remains extremely cool during summers because of its very well-ventilated and maintained domes. The museum has many figures of wildlife, domes, caves and other 3D artwork.

8. Nahar Singh Mahal

Nahar Singh Mahal was built by the forefathers of Raja Nahar Singh in 1739 AD. This fort is also known as Raja Nahar Singh Palace. The fort witnessed double-storeyed sandstone structures with a huge central courtyard. This palace has six guest rooms which are beautifully decorated and have a royal ambience. There is Darbar-E-Aam, which is also known as the Hall of public audience and Rang Mahal decorated with pretty chhatris in Nahar Singh Mahal.

9. Kaithal Fort

Kaithal Fort is located in Kaithal, a municipal city in the Kaithal district of Haryana. The remains of the fortress are still present and witnessed by visitors. There are many gates made by the Britishers and it is one of the must-visit destinations in Kaithal. The fort was restored in 2016 as it was in ruins. There are also huge bastions and study walls which reflect the exquisite craftsmanship and amazing architecture of that era.

10. Raipur Rani Fort
It is believed that Raipur Rani Fort was built by Rana Har Rai Singh who came from Ajmer. The fort was built by Rao Rai Singh who claimed to be the son of Rana Har Rai Singh. The fort presently is in ruins. The fort still preserves the region’s rich history. There is a historical shrine located inside the fort related to Guru Gobind Singh. This fort was considered the main fort of Rao Rai’s Kingdom and was later used by the Britishers to expand their powerful regime.
