Panamik Hot Spring is located in Panamik, a small village in Nubra Valley. The site lies around 140 kilometres from Leh. The hot water spring is set against a backdrop of stunning mountain scenery and is nestled in the heart of the Himalayas. Hot sulphur springs are found in the village. The name of the village, Panamik, is a contraction of the term ‘Spang Na Chumik’ which means ‘Spring In The Meadows’. Panamik Village is situated at an elevation of 3183 metres, lies in Leh District and has a population of 1500 residents.

By Air: The nearest airport to Panamik Hot Springs and Panamik Village is the airport of Leh. The airport lies at a distance of 140 kilometres. Visitors travelling by air shall land at this airport and take a taxi to Nubra Valley to reach Panamik.
By Train: There are no trains travelling to the region in and around Leh because of the high altitude that the region is perched. Those wanting to commute by train shall get down at the railway station of Chandigarh and then hire a cab or take a taxi to Leh to further travel to the region of Nubra Valley and Panamik Village.

2. Diskit Monastery

Diskit Monastery is also called Diskit Gompa regionally and follows Tibetan Buddhism. The spiritual centre is the largest Buddhist Monastery in three regions, Diskit, Leh and Nubra Valley of the Ladakh Territory. The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa Sect and was founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo in the 14th Century, being one of the oldest monasteries in the region. The monastery has gained fame because of the huge Maitreya Buddha statue which features atop it. This statue is believed to have been inaugurated by the HH Dalai Lama and is 32 metres high. The statue faces down the Shyok River.
