1. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport

Once known as the Plaisance Airport, the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport is the primary international airport of Mauritius. Situated around 48 km southeast of Port Louis, this airport operates direct flights to and from Africa, Europe and Asia. The design of the SSR International Airport is inspired by the tropical plant of Mauritius, “Travellers’ Palm”. The huge airport can accommodate around 4 million passengers, and the terminal itself is around 57,000 square meters. It has five boarding gates equipped with check-in desks, inquiry counters, baggage carousels and immigration counters.
How To Reach: Passengers travelling from Mahebourg must drive for 6 km on the A10 road and follow the signs for the airport. Those travelling from Port Louis must head southeast for about 40 km on the M2 road and then follow the directions to the airport. Car rental services such as Budget and Europcar offer services to the airport. Bus transit services ply between Port Louis and the airport daily at half-hour intervals. It is about an hour’s drive from the bus station to the airport terminal.
2. Sir Gaetan Duval Airport

The second airport in Mauritius, the Sir Gaetan Duval Airport, is located at Plaine Corail. Inaugurated in 1972 and named after Gaetan Duva,l who was responsible for developing Rodrigues Island, this is a domestic airport. A subsidiary of the main SSR, there are facilities to transport passengers to and from the international airport. The airport can accommodate around 49,500 people, and only two airlines- Air Mauritius and Air Austral- operate from here. The facilities available at this airport are convenience stores, VIP lounges, duty-free shops, and security checkpoints.
How To Reach: There are buses that ply from Port Mathurin to this airport from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. You can reach the airport in 35 minutes from this place. Cab services in the form of taxis, cars, trucks and SUVs provide transportation services to passengers from any part of Mauritius to the airport bus station.
