Anchuthengu Fort is one of the famous historical monuments, built by the East India Company in 1695. It was the first trade settlement of the British that served as an important centre for trade and communication for them. Also, this is the fort where the first rebellion against the British took place in India. This is a square-shaped fort with four bastions and walls made of laterite blocks. The walls are over 15 feet high. It is a well-maintained fort with gardens and lawns in the compound. It is also called Anjengo Fort.
