By Air: George Airport, GRJ, is the nearest major air base, located about 60 kilometres from the caves. One can rent a car or take a shuttle to Oudtshoorn from George. The drive takes approximately 45 minutes and is quite picturesque.
By Train: Oudtshoorn is, however, not directly accessed by railway services, but it is possible to reach George on a train from major cities such as Cape Town. You will have to take a taxi or rent a car to reach the caves from George.
By Road: The best option remains driving. If you are targeted in Cape Town, take the N1 western towards Worcester, then use the R62 country road. There will be directional signs towards Oudtshoorn, then the R328 road towards the caves. The time usually takes about 4-5 hours.

UNESCO has recognized Swartberg Pass, South Africa, as a World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful mountain pass that joins Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert, situated in the Western Cape province. It is about 27 kilometres long and rises to 1583 meters. The pass was constructed between 1881 and 1886 by Thomas Bain, a civil engineer who used convicts to do the labour and with magnificent dry-stone walls and views that would amaze anyone looking out on the landscape itself.
