The fort is situated in the town of Dabhoi, approximately 29 kilometres southeast of Vadodara in Gujarat, India. The fort is easily accessible from major cities in Gujarat. The fort, also known as Darbargadh, is a fortified structure that dates back to the 13th century. It was constructed by King Siddhraj Jaisinh, a prominent ruler of the Solanki dynasty, who is also credited with building several other significant architectural works in Gujarat. Initially, when the fort was constructed, it was reportedly called the “Bhadra Fort,” since it was constructed with the motive to offer security to the rulers and the kingdom. The fort is rectangular and is surrounded by a massive stone wall, which is punctuated by four intricately carved gates: the Hira Gate, Baroda Gate, Champaner Gate, and Nandod Gate.
