Fatorpa Temple is one of the oldest temples in Goa. This temple is dedicated to Shantadurga, who is another form of Goddess Durga. The goddess was moved from Fatorpa in the 16th Century by the Portuguese. During the reign of Maratha Ruler Chatrapati Shahu, this temple was reconstructed and the Goddess was brought back. At the entrance of the temple, there is a huge door called the Mahadwar with a big gold Kalash. Inside the premises of the temple and its Garbhagriha, there is an idol of Shantadurga, decorated daily with ‘Shringar’.

By Rail: Visitors travelling to this destination via train shall get down at the station of Madgaon. Madgaon Railway Station is only 16 kilometres from the temple and can be reached within a span of 30 minutes at the earliest.
By Road: Travelling to this temple in South Goa involves a scenic journey. Tourists opting for a road journey shall travel from Panjim to Fatorpa and take NH 66. Others can also take the route of Old Goa heading towards Ponda and then follow the directions to Cuncolim and Fatorpa.
