The Gargoti Museum, often referred to as the “Mineral Museum,” is India’s largest and most distinguished museum of natural minerals, crystals, and gemstones. The name “Gargoti” comes from the Marathi word for stones, highlighting the core focus of the museum.
Opened to the public on April 26, 2001, Gargoti Museum was established by Mr. K.C. Pandey, whose passion for exploring different gems and collecting them, led to the development of the museum. Over 40 years, Mr Pandey consistently collected minerals from the Deccan Traps, which is an ancient geological formation.
