The place is linked to a legend of the D’Mello brothers who once used to inhabit the majestic house. However, they were known to quarrel among themselves for ancestral property. An escalation of the quarrel ultimately led to the death of the brothers, after which the D’Mello House fell under a thick veil of darkness and horror. Passersby and neighbours have since reported hearing strange noises and bone-chilling screams coming from the house. Locals believed the house to be put under a curse, driving them away from the eerie property.

2. Three Kings Church

The legend speaks of three kings who constantly fought for power, making it one of the top haunted places in South Goa. This long struggle for power and authority led to one of the kings poisoning the other two over a meal in the church. The third king also succumbs to poisoning in the same church after a crowd of enraged people gathered around the place after realising what he had done. The village is home to a banyan tree, said to be haunted by the spirit of a lady named Christalina. There is a famous story that speaks of a man passing by the haunted tree who was found the next day, wounded with scratches all over his body. Although this incident took place decades ago, the locals are still terrified to pass by the banyan tree, especially after the night sets in.

4. Rachol Seminary Arch

The Rachol Seminary Arch is located in the Rachol Village of Goa. The village, particularly this arch situated at the entrance of the village, is said to be haunted by the spirit of a Portuguese soldier. The soldier stands guard at the village of Rachol and denies entry to anyone he thinks is not worthy of getting a passage to the village. The place is famous for its serene waters and water sports but it hides the legend of Dona Paula that gives it its haunted reputation. The legend speaks of two lovers who were from different castes. Their love was not accepted by the people around them which prevented them from being united. The two ultimately met their ends at the Dona Paula beach hence giving it its haunted reputation. The locals believe that the spirit of Dona Paula rises from the sea every night to look for her lover.
