Swami Vivekanand Sarovar, earlier known as Budha Talab is an iconic landmark in Raipur. This picturesque location pays homage to the spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda. A pond at the centre of the park features a path that leads to the magnificent 37 feet high bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda. 4. Maharajabandh Lake

The Maharajabandh lake was built in 1770 by Maharaja Roadani. There is a medieval fort on the north side of the fort whose construction was initiated by King Ram Chandra during his reign. 5. Khuntaghat

Originally a lake constructed by Britishers in 1926, Khuntaghat is now a beautiful reservoir and dam located around 10 km from Ratanpur in Bilaspur. This area is accessible from the Bilaspur-Ambikapur National Highway. Surrounded by hills and forests, this naturally beautiful place offers some stunning views. Locals and tourists visit this place for picnics and to witness the pristine blue waters of the lake. Built on River Kharoon, this dam is mostly used for irrigation. There are boating facilities if you wish to view the dam up close. There is a Shiva temple near the dam and a Tourist Rest House in the vicinity, apt for an overnight stay.

Dalpat Sagar Lake is the biggest artificial lake in Chhattisgarh. This 400-year-old lake was primarily created to harvest rainwater for irrigation and consumption and is now being used for tourism and fishing. Spread across 350 hectares, this lake was built by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya. An artificial island is created in the middle of the lake for tourists to have picnics. A huge reservoir in Chhattisgarh, the Saroda Reservoir is in the district of Kanker, and is its primary water source. Built in the late 1960s, the lake is fed by the Khol and Sabri rivers.
