Located in Vadama near Mukundapuram Taluk of Thrissur District in Kerala, Pambummekkattu Temple is believed to be the divine abode of Nagayakshi and Lord Vasuki. Spread over an area of six acres of land, there are five Sarpa Kavu temples dedicated to the snake god in the complex. The Snake god Nagaraja and Goddess Nagayakshi reside in the temple’s eastern part. One of the unique features of this temple is that there are no idols of the gods yet daily poojas are conducted for them. In place of them, there are oil lamps that keep on burning at all times. This temple is famous for Rahu Pooja among the snake god devotees.

This temple is located on the Kunnathunad- Vanama Link road in Mala which is in the Vadama Village of Kerala, Thrissur district. It is a sprawling six-acre temple complex which has resplendent architecture and a rich history.

Also known by the name of Kurumbakavu Bhagavathi temple, this is one of the oldest functioning temples in India. It is popularly believed that the Kannaki idol of this temple was placed by Cheran Chenkuttuvan of the Chera Dynasty around 1800 years ago. This idol represents the goddess in her fiercest form with eight hands holding different attributes. Dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, this place still follows the ancient Shaktyeism customs that are rarely followed in modern Kerala temples.

2. Vaidhyaratnam Ayurveda Museum

Built for the enlightenment of the public regarding the rich heritage of Ayurveda by one of the leading names of this field- the Ashtavaidyam Thaikattu Mooss Vaidyaratnam Group of Institutions, this museum is located near Ollur in the Thrissur district of Kerala. This museum houses separate galleries full of presentations on Ayurvedic history from the Vedic, mythological, Sangraha, Sanhita and Mediaeval periods. In addition, there is also a 3D gallery showcasing traditional education, medicine manufacturing, treatments and the present developments in this field.

3. Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary

Located on the outskirts of the Thrissur district of Kerala, Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary has a lush tropical rainforest full of mountains, streams, and clusters of green deciduous trees. Located just two hours from Kochi, this wildlife sanctuary is located around the Chimmini Dam established on the western Nelliyampathy hills in 1984. Additionally, there are watershed areas like the Mupilam River and Kurumali River in the sanctuary. One can enjoy several trekking trails and jungle camps in this area.

4. Thumboormuzhi Dam

This is a well-known tourist spot located in Thrissur. Located on the Chalakudy River, this dam has a butterfly park, a hanging bridge as well as a children’s park located in the surroundings. Walk through the hanging bridge to reach the nature village of Ezhattumukham- Prakriti Gramam. The place is a paradise for birdwatchers as the place houses diverse species of birds amidst stunning meandering river views and lush green forest.

5. Athirapally Waterfalls

This is one of the largest and famous waterfalls of Kerala, Athirapally waterfalls towers at a height of 80 ft. The magnificence and sheer power of the crashing water make this a perennial picnic spot for the locals as well as tourists. This waterfall is a part of the Chalakudy River and is located in the Sholayar forest range. Not only is this place famous for its views but also for the endangered animal species living here. Four endangered Hornbill species along with several rare and vibrant bird species call this place home.

- The best time to visit this temple is during the winter months from September to March since the weather is pleasant and comfortable for travelling. Also, the greenery as well as waterfalls are at their best during this time.
- There is no entry ticket to the temple. The cost of using public transport or private taxis is also very minimal.
