The primary attraction in Bhimavaram is the Sri Someswara Janardhana Swamy Temple. It is one of the five Pancharama temples. Legends depict that it was Lord Chandra who installed the idol of Lord Shiva in the temple, which explains why it is called the Someswara Janardhana temple. The Mavullamma Ammavari Temple is an ancient Hindu temple, whose origin reportedly dates back to the 12th century. According to the local legends, it is believed that Sri Mavullamma appeared in one of the buildings that was reportedly built for the storage of Ammavari Garagala. Around the temple lies a Neem tree and a Ravichtu tree, which hold a lot of spiritual significance as well. Later in 1880, Grandhi Appanna was told by the Goddess that she wanted a temple to be built for her worship, which is what led to the eventual construction of this temple.
