1. Sri Someswara Janardhana Swamy Temple

The primary attraction in Bhimavaram is the Sri Someswara Janardhana Swamy Temple. It is one of the five Pancharama temples. Legends depict that it was Lord Chandra who installed the idol of Lord Shiva in the temple, which explains why it is called the Someswara Janardhana temple. Unlike the other Pancharama temples, the lingam inside this temple is fairly small. The intricate carvings on the temple walls depict mythological stories with exquisite detail. Once you finish offering your prayers to the deity, you can then spend the remainder of the time exploring the temple complex.

2. Mavullamma Ammavari Temple

The Mavullamma Ammavari Temple is an ancient Hindu temple, whose origin reportedly dates back to the 12th century. According to the local legends, it is believed that Sri Mavullamma appeared in one of the buildings that was reportedly built for the storage of Ammavari Garagala. Around the temple lies a Neem tree and a Ravichtu tree, which hold a lot of spiritual significance as well. Later in 1880, Grandhi Appanna was told by the Goddess that she wanted a temple to be built for her worship, which is what led to the eventual construction of this temple.

3. Kolleru Bird Sanctuary

Moving ahead from the spiritual centres, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bhimavaram is the Kolleru Bird Sanctuary. It is roughly 50 km from the main town of Bhimavaram and as the name suggests, the sanctuary is home to a wide range of bird species. The sanctuary spread across an area of 673 sq. km and was established in November 1999. Some of the most popular birds you can witness in the sanctuary are Open-billed storks, Purple moorhen, Painted storks, Common redshank, etc. Also, there are 63 species of biomass fish available in the sanctuary.

It is an ancient temple and a popular pilgrimage site, which is located in Jangareddygudem, roughly 92 km from Bhimavaram. The idol of Lord Hanuman is believed to be miraculous, and devotees come here to seek blessings and offer prayers. 6. Godavari Bridge

Ksheera Rama Lingeswara Temple is a popular temple that is located in Palakollu, which is around 25 km from Bhimaravam. It is one of the five Pancharama Kshetras and has a lot of spiritual significance. In this temple, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Ksheera Ramalingeswara Swamy. According to local beliefs, staying one day at the Ksheerarama is believed to be equivalent to staying 365 days in Varanasi. One of the main attractions of this temple is the central tower, which is the tallest in the entirety of Andhra Pradesh, measuring around 120 feet. The temple was reportedly built during the Chalukya dynasty.

8. Shakteeswara Swamy Temple

Located on the outskirts of Bhimavaram is the Shakteeswara Swamy Temple, which is another renowned temple in the town. The temple is more specifically located in the village of Yanamaduuru, around 8 km from the main town of Bhimavaram. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his entire family. Inside the temple, you can find Lord Shiva in the Sirsa Asana position while Goddess Parvati is holding Subramanya, who is 3 months old. During extensive excavations of the temple, the archaeologists even unearthed a 6-foot snake idol, further explaining why it is one of the must-visit tourist places in Bhimavaram.
