2. Coco Beach

This beach is located in the Nerul region of Goa. From here, you can observe the beauty of the Mandovi River bank, bordered with a line of palm trees and coconut trees. The beach is known for offering water sports to tourists and for its popular dolphin cruise. The dolphin cruise is, however, the star attraction. 4. Reis Magos Fort

This fort is located in the Nerul region of Goa. It is located on the top of a hill by the banks of the River Mandovi. The name of the fort as well as the village that it is located in, Reis Magos, gets its name from the Portuguese word for the ‘Three Wise Men’ from the Bible. The fort lies right opposite to the city of Panaji and has laterite walls Portuguese turrets. The reason behind building this fort was the protection of the narrowest stretch of land occupying the estuary of Mandovi. It was replaced by a larger structure during the beginning of the 18th century.

5. Aguada Fort

This fort was built during the time when Goa was a colony of Portuguese settlers, back in the 17th century. It was built as a defense against Dutch invasion. The name of the fort means ‘watery’ in Portuguese. It was named after the fresh water spring located within the fort that replenished the resources of crews of ships that passed by. It has a very large water storing capacity and also acted as a grandstand of 79 cannons. The upper part of the fort acted as a station for water supply and the lower part acted as a berth for safety.
