The Bhuli Bhatiyari ka Mahal is situated in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, near the Central Ridge Reserve Forest, and was built in the 14th century as a royal hunting lodge. It was built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq and it is said that it owes its name to one of its female caretakers, Bu-Ali Bhatti. Today, the structure is nothing but rubble, with all that remains being a masonry doorway with corbelled arches as well as a courtyard. What draws visitors to this place is the lore that it is haunted.

2. Humayun’s Tomb

Commissioned by Bega Begum, Humayun’s first wife, Humayun’s Tomb houses the Mughal emperor’s tomb as well as that of other prominent figures from his court. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also the first garden-tomb in India. The structure is a testament to beautiful Mughal architecture and is constructed using red sandstone and white marble. This main tomb is set in the middle of a charbagh which is a Persian-style garden. Besides the primary tomb, the complex also contains other smaller tombs, mosques, animal rest houses, residences and more.

5. Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar, which translates to “instruments meant for measuring the harmony of heavens,” is a widely frequented attraction in Delhi which features 13 instruments of architectural astronomy. It was built by Jaipur’s Maharaja Jai Singh II who has a keen interest in astronomy.
