This mosque and its construction were supported by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, the founder of the Mamluk Dynasty. The mosque is renowned as it celebrates the conquest of Islam in India. When translated, Quwwat-ul-Islam means the ‘Glory of Islam’. The construction of the mosque ended in 1196 and had cloisters, courtyards and a sanctuary to the west. The expansion of the mosque continued even after the death of Qutb-ud-din-Aibak and was prominently expanded by Iltutmish who extended the main prayer hall and added three more arches to the region.

By Metro: The nearest metro station to the mosque in Qutub Minar Complex is the Qutub Minar Metro Station. This station lies at a distance of 2.5 kilometres from the site. You can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw from the metro station to reach the destination.
By Bus: Take a local bus and get down at the nearest bus stop to Qutub Minar Complex. Check for buses which stop in Mehrauli. From the bus stop take an auto rickshaw or walk to the complex.
By Auto Rickshaw: You can hire an auto from Connaught Place or any other place in Delhi to reach Mehrauli. It might take 30 to 45 minutes to reach Qutub Complex.
