Sheesh Mahal of Ramnagar is a royal palace in Jammu and Kashmir’s specified region. The park is situated in Ramnagar, which is in the Udhampur district and very close to Ramgarh Fort. It was erected by the then-king, Raja Ram Singh in 1885. It earned its name, Sheesh Mahal, because of its extensive use of mirror works. Hence, it is popular as the Palace of Mirror as well. The palace has beautifully carved walls and ceilings with paintings narrating India’s two greatest epics – the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. There are portraits on Sheesh Mahal’s walls that depict the life histories of Rama Ram Singh and other former rulers.
