Sri Ranganatha Temple, more commonly known as the Srirangam Temple, is known to be the first of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. It is situated on the holy Srirangam Island in Tamil Nadu. It is believed to be one of the largest temple complexes and is considered an exemplary example of the highest level of excellence in Dravidian architecture. By Air: The nearest airport is Tiruchirappalli International Airport, about 15 km from Ranganatha. You can reach the temple complex from there by taking a taxi or boarding a local bus.
By Rail: The nearest railway station to the temple is Srirangam Railway Station. It lies about 1 km away. You can easily get a taxi or an autorickshaw from just outside the railway station to take you to the temple.

The temple observes many vibrant festivals throughout the year, steeped in tradition and devotion. Special among these is the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, which falls during December and January. The 20-day event is divided into the Pagal Pathu (daytime) and Ra Pathu (nighttime) festivals. On this day, the devotees jubilantly pass over the Paramapada Vasal, the “gate to heaven,” which, in death, brings them to Vaikuntham or heaven. The Jyestabishekam is another festival celebration during which deities are dressed in diamond, pearl, and gold armour for three days in June and July.
