Thalassery Fort is a historical fort situated in the Kannur district and is one of the most-visited places in Kerala. This fort stands on a rock cliff, on Thalassery Beach. This square-shaped fort has huge walls and intricately carved doors. The base of the fort is made of laterite blocks and loop-holed walls, supported by strong bastions. The entrance of the fort is huge on top of a giant wall. It is decorated with mural paintings dating back to the 18th century, giving a glimpse into Kannaur’s rich history.

This fort is situated in the small town of Thalassery, 22 km from the Northern district of Kannur. It lies on a group of low wooden hills running down to the sea.

It is very convenient to reach this fort as the Kannur Airport is only 23 km away. Kannur Bus Stand and Railway Station are also nearby. Tourists can either hire a taxi, auto-rickshaw or use public transport to reach the fort.

This museum was built as a tribute to the only Muslim royal family in Kerala. The museum is built in traditional Kerala architecture and the ambiance exudes historical charm. 3. Palakkayam Thattu

Palakkayam Thattu is a hill station located in the Western Ghats, that stands at an altitude of around 3500 feet above sea level. The hill town has lush green hills, panoramic vistas, a misty climate, and fresh air all around. Tourists indulge in trekking and off-roading here.
