Thiksey Monastery, situated 19 kms from Leh, Ladakh, is a colossal twelve storied monastery nestled on a hilltop. It is one of the largest and most prominent monasteries in central Ladakh. By Road: There are buses, or taxis can be hired from Leh which is approximately 19 km from the location. Leh bus stand is about an hour bus drive by changing buses at Choglamsar stop and buses are available every 15 minutes.
By Rail: The nearest railway station from this place is Jammu Tawi around 700 kilometers away. One can get a local bus or taxi to Leh.
