The water cascades down from green hills, making for a mesmerising sight as it tumbles into the clear pools below. Located in the Idukki district near the lower pine forests of Vagamon, it is also known as Palozhukum Para Waterfall. How To Reach Vagamon Waterfalls

To visit this waterfall, you need to first reach either the nearest airport in Cochin or the railway station in Kottayam. After that, either hail a taxi or board a bus to Vagamon. Once you reach Vagamon, you can either opt for an adventurous trek or go for a jeep drive through a strikingly scenic road so as to get to the place from where you can see the majestic Vagamon Waterfall tumbling down the hills.

1. Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall

Located just 64 km from Vagamon, Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall is a postcard-perfect waterfall that flows between magnificent rocks, thick vegetation and dense rubber forest. Collapsing down from a height of 30 feet, the place is a camping hotspot, where you can cherish a relaxing sojourn. You can also visit the St Mary’s Church located at the top of this waterfall by undertaking an adventurous trek up to the hill.

Located in the Erattupetta region of the Kottayam district, Marmala Waterfalls is a magnificent waterfall cascading down to the Teekoy River. The water falling from a height of 60 m amid the impenetrable green vegetation of the Teekoy Rubber estate, thus offering a breathtaking view. Besides exploring the attraction, here you can also enjoy activities like mountain climbing, trekking and photography while visiting this place.

3. Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls

Located in the Sabarimala forest of Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls glide through a mystic forest and merge into the sacred Pamba River. You can either undertake a 20-minute hike through the surrounding tea plantations or a 5-minute walk to reach the waterfall. The two shores of the waterfall are known as Vechoochira and Kudamurutti. The milky white water of the waterfall stretches over a rocky bed to form a natural swimming pool where you can take a refreshing dip.

4. Thommankuthu Waterfalls

Located at a distance of just 70 km from Vagamon, Thommankuthu Waterfall is a strikingly beautiful seven-stepped waterfall. Here, the water does not come in one large force but through a series of waterfalls cascading down a spread of over 12 km. You can enjoy water activities like boating, rock climbing, fishing and many others at this place. You can also walk through a lush green forest where small resting huts have been built for you to relax and enjoy the general hum of nature.
