The deity is Lord Kayarohana, with Nilayathakshi being his consort. Adi Kumbeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple was built around the 9th century during the reign of the Chola dynasty. The presiding deity is known as Adi Kumbeswarar, and the goddess goes by the name of Mangalambigai Amman. The temple complex covers 30,181 sq ft and is the largest in Kumbakonam. There are four gateway towers called gopurams at each entrance, with the eastern tower being the tallest, standing up to 128 feet.
