The Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum was founded in 1962 by Dr. Dinkar G. Kelkar, a renowned art collector, and enthusiast. With a vision to preserve India\u2019s rich artistic and cultural legacy, Dr. Kelkar opened the museum in memory of his late son, Raja. The museum, which started with Dr. Kelkar’s collection of objects, has now expanded into a massive institution showcasing over 21,000 objects collected from different parts of India. However, only about 2,500 artefacts are displayed at any given time due to space constraints.<\/p>\n

Inside the museum, the collection of items and exhibits span across varying genres including sculptures, musical instruments, textiles, household items, and decorative objects, some of which date back to the 14th century. The most fascinating part of exploring this museum is that every artefact that you witness on display inside the museum is a personal item owned by Dr. Kelkar.<\/p>\n
