This temple is dedicated to Shantadurga, who is another form of Goddess Durga. The goddess was moved from Fatorpa in the 16th Century by the Portuguese. During the reign of Maratha Ruler Chatrapati Shahu, this temple was reconstructed and the Goddess was brought back. At the entrance of the temple, there is a huge door called the Mahadwar with a big gold Kalash.
