It is situated at a distance of about 35 kilometres from Rajouri and 154 kilometres from Jammu City. According to Iqbal Nama Akbri, Mughal Emperor Jahangir stayed at the fort 11 times between 1605 to 1627 AD. In 1927, the emperor fell ill near Poonch, while returning from Kashmir. The royal caravan stopped at Bharmgala and Jahangir started to recover from the illness. But one day while he went hunting and was waiting for a deer, the attendant with him fell off a boulder and died. This shocking incident took a toll on the emperor\u2019s health and his condition became critical. While returning to Lahore, the emperor died in Rajouri and some of his remains were buried at Chingus Sarai.<\/p>\n
