Ahobilam Temple is roughly 70 kilometers from Nandyal and 360 miles from Hyderabad. Lord Narasimha’s shrines are spread throughout the two distinct areas of the temple complex, Upper Ahobilam and Lower Ahobilam. Mahanandi is a charming village in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, in the Nallamala Hills. It is well-known for its historic Lord Shiva temple. Legend has it that Lord Narasimha appeared on this pillar to save his disciple Prahlada. The name “Ugra” refers to the god’s ferocious and angry nature upon his appearance. It takes a lot of determination to complete the difficult trip to Ugra Stambham. Although the climb is rough and steep, it is nonetheless rewarding because of the spiritual value and the expansive views from the top.<\/p>\n

The Karanja tree, which depicts Lord Narasimha, is the inspiration behind the temple’s name.
