Legend has it that Lord Narasimha appeared on this pillar to save his disciple Prahlada. The name &#8220;Ugra&#8221; refers to the god&#8217;s ferocious and angry nature upon his appearance. It takes a lot of determination to complete the difficult trip to Ugra Stambham.
