This mosque and its construction were supported by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, the founder of the Mamluk Dynasty. The mosque is renowned as it celebrates the conquest of Islam in India. When translated, Quwwat-ul-Islam means the \u2018Glory of Islam\u2019. The construction of the mosque ended in 1196 and had cloisters, courtyards and a sanctuary to the west.
