1. Sultanpur National Park

This national park is located at a distance of 50km from the capital city of New Delhi. It occupies the Sultanpur Village of Haryana. Since the very beginning, this national park has seen a lot of renovations like the construction of proper parks, tube wells and mounds for the park to thrive. Trees are also being planted through the government’s efforts. The park is known for having 250 species of migratory birds. These birds come from far-off places like Siberia, Afghanistan and parts of Europe. The purple sunbird, white-throated kingfisher and little cormorant are some of the birds found in this park.

2. Bhiwani Zoo

A lot of people come to this zoo to have a fun-filled picnic experience along with family and friends. The zoo was established to foster a relationship between mankind and nature. The zoo has been undergoing a lot of renovations and improvements since 2006. The zoo has a large number of deer. There are also animals like the Ghariyal fox, crocodile, black bear and Sambar here in this zoo. There is also a large space provided for tigers in the zoo. Birds like the Cockatiel, Java Sparrow, Silver Pheasant and Barn Owl can be spotted at this zoo.

3. Pipli Zoo

This zoo is famous for having a breeding centre for Black Bucks. It is located very close to the Pipli Bus Stand. It is strategically located on Highway 1 and is often visited by travellers in transit. The zoo spans over 27 acres of land. Some of the popular animals at this park are the Asiatic Lion, Hyena, Jackal, Peafowl, Jungle Fowl, Hippopotamus and Chital. You can also visit this zoo to enjoy a picnic since it is a popular picnic spot. It is also home to the Sarasvati Riverfront, which is constantly being developed.

4. Deer Park

The Deer Park spans over 48 acres of land and offers a view of deer across several species. A plot within this park is segregated and completely dedicated to growing fodder to feed the deer. There is a rescue clinic within the deer park, which tends to animals that have been injured in conflict with mankind. Peepal, Kikar, Sheesham and Eucalyptus trees are found throughout the vast expanse of the park. There is a beautiful fountain in the heart of the park and a sitting area for visitors who choose to come here for picnics.

5. Bir Bara Ban Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary spans over 419 hectares of land and is quite popular among tourists who visit the state of Haryana. The sanctuary is at a distance of 144km from Delhi and at a distance of 190km from the city of Chandigarh. It is a popular weekend getaway for those living in these two bustling cities. The area that this Sanctuary covers, was declared as a sanctuary in 2007 by the Haryana government. Some of the animals you can spot at this sanctuary are hummingbirds, peacocks, Neel cows, Rhesus Monkeys, wild cats, monkeys and jackals.

6. Bhor Saidan Crocodile Breeding Centre

This park is dedicated to conserving and breeding freshwater mugger crocodiles. It is maintained by the Haryana Forests Department. It lies very close to the Kurukshetra Bus Stand. It is one of the 4 crocodile breeding centres of its kind in India. The crocodiles here are allowed to flourish in the habitat most suitable to them. The centre was started in 1975 when certain breeds of the crocodile started declining in the country. In 2019, the number of mugger crocodiles and gharials actually increased due to the efforts of this centre.

7. Nahar Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary is located very close to Rewari in Haryana, at a distance of about 37km. The name of the sanctuary is derived from the village that is situated in. It has been functioning as a sanctuary since 1987. This sanctuary is known for being home to several endangered species of wildlife, including the Black Buck. The sanctuary has been built on the pasture which was once owned by the Nawab of Dujana. The sanctuary is one of the last habitats for the Black Buck.

8. Kalesar National Park

This park has been thriving as a popular tourist attraction since 2003. There are 3 tracks in this park which are dedicated to wildlife Jeep safaris. You can visit this park throughout the year except between July and September since the park remains closed during this time. The Kalesar National Park is known for being home to the Kalesar Mahadev Temple, which is located inside the National Park. There is also a Colonial Dak Bungalow in the national park which is very popular among those who love spotting birds and animals from a distance. It is a remnant of India’s colonial past.

9. Tilyar Mini Zoo

This zoo is a part of the Tilyar Lake complex and attracts visitors throughout the year. It has been thriving commercially since 1987. The zoo is known for having many interesting life-sized models of animals, meant for educating visitors. There are man-made waterfalls, shelters and watch towers constructed within this park for its visitors. Drinking water is also available for those who come to pay a visit to this park. The chinkara, grey langur, guinea fowl, silver pheasant, otter, zebra finch and fantail pigeon are some of the most popular zoos in Haryana.

10. Chhilchhila Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary is located very close to Kurukshetra University and is popular among students. The sanctuary is known for being located in the vicinity of Baba Rodanath Dera Temple, which is revered by the Hindu community of Haryana. The whole sanctuary is situated on a depression formed by an embankment for a lake. The sanctuary abounds in a large number of migratory and resident bird species. Birds are given the chance to breed and stop by in the safe, conserved environment.
