1. Machia Biological Park

Machia Biological Park is one of the newest additions to Jodhpur’s wildlife attractions. It is undoubtedly one of the best zoos in Jodhpur, located near the Mehrangarh Fort. Inside the zoo, you get a glimpse into the variety of animals that are thriving in their semi-natural habitat. The park was established to rehabilitate animals that were rescued or confiscated from illegal poachers. So, as you explore the zoo, prepare yourself to spot lions, tigers, crocodiles, bears and even ostriches. One of the park’s key attractions is its focus on the conservation of local wildlife, allowing you to learn about them too.

2. Umaid Bhawan Palace Zoo

One of the most unconventional zoos that you can visit when in Jodhpur is the Umaid Bhawan Palace Zoo. The garden zoo is the perfect spot for you to relax and witness migratory and native birds around. You might spot some wildlife traipsing around the well-maintained gardens too. Beyond the mammals, the zoo is reportedly home to numerous reptiles too. The zoo offers an intimate experience for those wanting a peaceful visit while learning about the flora and fauna that thrive there. Some of the few commonly spotted animals inside the zoo include tigers, lions, zebras, ostrich, monkeys, emu, etc.

3. Balsamand Lake Wildlife Park

The area around the Balsamand Lake is also home to numerous birds and animals, making it a popular tourist attraction. It isn’t your typical zoo but the area around the lake lets you spot numerous types of wildlife like rabbits and jackals and even more birds like peacocks. You can also witness crocodiles in the lake. Since the park is set around the lake, you also get to relax amidst nature while spotting different animals. The peaceful environment of the lake makes it a great spot for hosting picnics too.

4. Mandore Gardens Animal Park

Again, although not in the traditional sense, Mandore Gardens is one of the popular zoos in Jodhpur. The majority of the people visit Mandore Gardens to explore the ruins, temples and archaeological findings. While those are the main attractions in the area, the surrounding area where you can spot some wildlife is also worth visiting. Some of the most common animal sightings in the park are that of monkeys and parakeets, which isn’t a lot but if you love witnessing animals in their natural habitat, you will not want to miss out on this experience at all.

5. Bishnoi Village Safari

While not a traditional zoo, Bishnoi Village Safari offers an immersive experience in rural Rajasthan, where visitors can encounter the rich wildlife of the region. The Bishnoi community is known for their conservation efforts, and during the safari, you can observe animals like blackbucks, chinkaras, and various birds in their natural environment. The safaris are comprehensive tours, which ensure that you can explore all the activities throughout the day without a worry in the world. 6. Sugan Vatika

Another one of the top zoos in Jodhpur to add to your travel plans is Sugan Vatika. It isn’t a very large zoo but offers an intimate encounter with the wildlife that resides there. You can spot different species of birds, both native and migratory, alongside a few different species of wildlife inside the zoo like common ravens, red-wattled lapwing, little cormorant, and Indian peafowl. The main attraction of this zoo is its secluded aviary section, which allows you to not only witness the birds up close but also learn about them in detail from the information board.
